Nvidia agrees, and tries to push you to install its app instead of using the browser. However, in our experience, it’s preferable to try out the native app instead, as the experience seems to work a bit more smoothly in both the menu navigation and in-game compared to the browser experience. Once logged in and connected, you can choose to access the games through a Chrome, Safari, or Edge browser to try out some games without installing anything. You just have to register yourself with an account, or if you have an existing Nvidia/GeForce account, you can activate GeForce Now on it. Getting started with GeForce Now is fairly straightforward. If you’re keen on the idea of owning your own game library or want to have some flexibility as to where you can game, without having to lug around a gaming rig, this service is worth checking out. You do still need to set up your own account access on their relevant platforms. In addition to your owned game library, you can play many Free to Play games such as Fortnite, League of Legends, Destiny 2, Path of Exile, Rocket League, and more through GeForce Now. In the United States, where this review was done, the membership plans cost the following: There may be times when an RTX 4080 rig is not available for a member, which will revert to an RTX 3080 rig.īeyond those varied limitations, GeForce Now advertises up to 1080p at 60 frames-per-second gameplay for its Priority members, and up to 4K at 120fps for PC/Mac and 4K HDR on Shield TV for its RTX 4080 members. Priority and Ultimate have priority access to the queue, with Ultimate members getting access to systems that provide up to RTX 4080 GPUs (where available, as this support is rolling out in phases). Free members have the lowest priority in connecting to the service, which can mean waiting in line to connect to a rig at times. There’s a priority component to the tiers, too, as Nvidia places limitations on the overall process and user loads on GeForce Now’s regional data centers. There is no set limit to the number of sessions you can start in a day. The free tier also doesn’t feature “RTX On,” Nvidia’s term for ray-tracing and DLSS support. The Free tier is limited to one hour, Priority subscribers can play for up to six hours per session, and Ultimate subscribers get eight hour sessions. GeForce NOW includes more than 1,500 game titles, and it is available on Apple's Macs. Each tier comes with a limit to how long you can be connected to a gaming session at a time. The GeForce NOW streaming service will allow those who are willing to pay the monthly access fee to play games using servers equipped with the GPU. The GeForce RTX 4080 is one of the most powerful GPUs available for purchase, but the $1,200 price makes it inaccessible for many. GeForce Now users who subscribed to the RTX 3080 tier will be migrated to the Ultimate tier automatically in the first quarter of 2023. Nvidia is introducing support for ultrawide resolutions, allowing 4K display owners to play games at up to 120 frames per second. Nvidia says that the GeForce NOW RTX 4080 SuperPODs will provide more than 64 teraflops of graphics horsepower to an individual user, which is 5x more than the Xbox Series X. With Nvidia Reflex, GeForce NOW can provide click-to-pixel latency below 40 milliseconds. Full ray tracing and DLSS 3 frame multiplying technology will be available, and Nvidia is introducing Reflex support for reduced latency for those who have a G Sync display. The Ultimate tier is priced at $20 per month (or $100 for six months), the same price as the prior plan that allowed gamers to access the GeForce RTX 3080. Nvidia today announced the launch of a new "Ultimate" tier for the GeForce NOW cloud gaming service, providing up to 240 fps gaming with servers powered by the GeForce RTX 4080.
