This unique style of education allows students to better retain the information they are taught (as they must teach themselves), as well as to complete classes as quickly as they are capable - meaning that many Winfree students may be able to graduate early. Rather than being limited by the usual restrictions of high school courses, though, students are given the freedom to work at their own pace, according to their own abilities and learning styles - albeit with educators who are present on campus to assist and tutor them whenever they may struggle. Interestingly, all classes are held online through a learning portal, although students still attend school on campus for 4 hours every weekday. ![]() Senior: Winfree Academy is undoubtedly a unique school which provides students and parents with incredible opportunity. At my old school we didn’t get to experience tutorials, different foods, after school clubs, even field trips but coming to Lake Dallas High school has impacted my life. Next year will be my last year being at Lake Dallas High school and so far it was different experience for me considering from where I moved from. Better materials and layouts have been provided. The quality of the food has gotten better, students have the choice to be able to eat different types of cultures food and enjoy it. As two years went by, my junior year, a lot has changed in Lake Dallas High school. Tutorials were also provided and I took the opportunity to reach out and go to tutorials and study with my teachers. Making straights A’s wasn’t hard because at Lake Dallas High school, retakes were allowed so you can reach for a better grade. Junior: My freshman year of being a student of Lake Dallas High school was difficult for me, I didn’t get to have the experience of having friends nor socializing. The school also welcomed parent involvement. The school also had great sports teams and plenty of extracurricular activities. The school focused more on preparing us for college or any after high school plans rather than meeting teaching marks. Each scholar still was able to succeed in classes because the teachers were intentional with meeting each scholars needs. The academics changed along with the school becoming Founders Classical Academy of Corinth, but the teachers executed the change very well. The school felt more like a second home and was a safe place. The staff wanted the best for each scholar and knew us all by name. Everyday we said the school motto which meant we were agreeing to practice those virtues in all ways possible. I loved that the school focused on building quality people with virtuous character. My children love Village, and they are happy and thriving in every way possible, and that’s extremely important to me!. The teachers are passionate about teaching and making a difference, and my children know they have a strong support system and teachers who care about them. ![]() Students are challenged with a rigorous academic program that is very much hands-on with individual and team projects that encourage creativity and innovation. We love the close-knit and small community, and the teachers really get to know your children as students are able to form connections with their teachers. Village has the most diverse student population of any school in Houston, and we have enjoyed meeting families who have lived abroad just like us, and the international parent community is very welcoming too. Parent: My children have been at Village from elementary through high school, and we are happy that our kids are thriving academically, mentally, socially, and emotionally at school. ![]()
